This project was a collaborative partnership with Castle Rock Brewery and Wigflex Events Company, where we developed a fully researched and innovative concept for a new beer range. Our work spanned a variety of deliverables, including moving image content and visual merchandising, demonstrating a broad creative approach. The project reached its peak at a high-profile “Beer Expo” event, where teams presented their concepts through pop-up stands and pitched directly to industry leaders and brand representatives. Our concept stood out, winning the competition—a remarkable achievement that led to our beer being brewed in December 2023 and officially launched in January 2024 at The Canal House in Nottingham. This experience not only validated our creative vision but also gave us the rare opportunity to see our ideas come to life in the real world, bridging design and production in a meaningful way.

This team project began with a shared concept: a low-alcohol beer range inspired by retro cartoons like Cuphead, which share visual ties with rave culture and vintage poster art. As a group, we played to our strengths, and I took on the design responsibilities. I illustrated a cast of original characters, each representing a different flavour in the range. Once the characters were developed, I expanded the visual world—creating dynamic backgrounds, custom labels, and promotional materials to bring the concept to life as a fully formed brand. This project was a turning point for me; it sparked a genuine passion for graphic design and helped me discover my strength in creating bold, character-driven visuals. Having my work recognised by both my university and the external brands we collaborated with was a huge motivator and encouraged me to keep building my skills and pursuing design more seriously.
